Valentina Chessa holds a Bachelor's degree in Materials Science from the University of Genoa, Italy, and completed the EIT RawMaterials-labelled Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's in Advanced Materials – Innovative Recycling (AMIR). As part of the programme, she studied at NOVA FCT in Lisbon, Portugal, and the Technical University of Madrid (UPM), Spain. Her master's thesis, conducted at the GEMME laboratory at the University of Liège, Belgium, focused on lithium-ion battery recycling, focusing on hydrometallurgical processes and impurity removal techniques.

During her bachelor's studies, Valentina gained research experience in the recovery of critical materials from waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) through fungal bioleaching (mycorecovery), exploring biometallurgical approaches to resource recovery.

As part of her master's studies, Valentina completed coursework in sustainability and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) from the University of Bordeaux, France, gaining practical experience with openLCA and the ecoinvent database through real-world case studies.

She has also gained experience working on and leading projects involving sustainable construction materials, bioplastics, circular economy, and waste valorisation.

At ARCHE Consulting, Valentina supports Cradle to Cradle Certified® Material Health Assessments and sustainability projects, combining her expertise in materials science, circular economy, and life cycle assessment to support safer materials and more sustainable products.
