In collaboration with ETN SOCRATES, METGROW+ has published a Social License to Operate Policy Brief (download here) to reflect the key discussions that took place in the Symposium on Transitioning to a Low-Carbon Economy – the Social License to Operate for the Mining and Recycling of Critical Metals took place in Leuven, Belgium on 21 February 2018. The document discusses the Five Lessons Learned with respect to the Social License to Operate for the mining and recycling of critical metals, essential for the transition to a low-carbon economy.
METGROW+ will address and solve bottlenecks in the European raw materials supply by developing innovative metallurgical technologies for unlocking the use of potential domestic raw materials. Within this project, both primary and secondary materials are studied as potential metal resources. For the successful implementation of these technologies a new tool will be enrolled that combines life cycle, risk and economic assessments in the technology development phase. The role of ARCHE Consulting in METGROW+ will be to perform the life cycle and risk assessments on the newly developed technologies.
