ARCHE invites you to join us at a QSAR workshop to be held 16 February 2012 in Gent
Topic
Save resources using QSARs in fulfilling your 2013 registration testing obligations under REACH
Registration
Complete the form to register. Note that the number of participants to this workshop is limited to 35 and on a first come, first served basis. We advise early registration to avoid disappointment!
Why attend?
Around 4,500 substances have been registered by 30 November 2010 by around 86% big chemical industries and 14% SMEs. For many of these substances, hazardous properties (or endpoints) were already to some extent available because high production volume substances in general tend to have more data available on hazardous properties.
However, it is expected that:
- a similar number of substances will be registered by 31 May 2013.
- among the registrants, more SME’s (= small & medium sized enterprises) will be involved because of the lower volumes, especially in Flanders/Belgium, known for its vibrant economy mainly based on the entrepreneurial spirit of SME's.
- the number of registrants per substance will on average decrease such that cost-sharing options will decrease as well.
- less data are available on hazardous properties because of the lower volumes.
Therefore, as part of the registration dossier, there is a need for cheaper, alternative non-testing methods such as QSARs to fill the data gaps.
The objective of the workshop is:
- to present available QSARs and their reliability, limitations, applicability domain and regulatory acceptance
- to demonstrate how QSARs should be used in a registration dossier
Who will benefit from this workshop?
Target audience is anyone involved in the preparation of REACH dossiers, HSE management, regulatory affairs managers responsible for REACH compliance, (eco)toxicologists.
